The fourth edition of the largest biogas industry meeting in Poland, organized by the Biomass Media Group, will once again gather representatives of the national and European biogas and agri-food sector, representatives of local government administration and energy market analysts. 4th Congress begins on September 16, 2019 at the Mercure Hotel in Poznań. On September 17th, participants will have the unique opportunity to visit the 3rd generation agricultural biogas plant. The two-day conference will bring together more than 180 professionals from the biogas sector: owners of installations, investors planning to build biogas plants, technologists and managers of biogas plants and landfills, but also representatives of the agricultural, food and meat industries, local government officials and representatives of ministries interested in the development of the biogas sector. The official motto of 4th Biogas Congress is “from waste to energy” – The use of biodegradable waste for energy production is a trend that we have been observing for many years in Western Europe. It’s time for us to bring these good practices to the polish ground. It is already happening – a biogas plant that processes bio-waste from the commune is working in Suchy Las near Poznań. And the potential is huge, especially in large agglomerations, where the amount of garbage to be processed increases year by year – says Maciej Roik from Biomass Media Group. – We have dedicated the entire session of the congress to the possibilities of energy use of bio-waste and sewage sludge. We will show participants the technological solutions and examples of installations that already work in Poland, and form a part of the circular economy – adds Jolanta Kamińska from “Biomasa Magazine.” Is a biogas plant profitable? Recent years have confirmed the great interest of the participants in the topics of support systems for biogas producers, new legal regulations determining the operation of biogas plants and optimization of installation work. This year issues of reference prices, auctions and cogeneration bonus will be presented by experts from BTK Legal. – We will also talk about how to improve the economics of biogas plants by optimization of installation work. This is right selection of substrates, but also proper heat management – says Jolanta Kamińska. For large food-processing and meat companies, biogas is not a possibility but a necessity. Especially in the context of waste management as well as sustainable development policy – adds J. Kamińska. Biogas in Wielkopolska It is no coincidence that this year’s conference will take place in Poznań- the capital city of the region. Here operates one of the most important scientific biogas centers in Poland managed by prof. Jacek Dach, and here a program for the production of hydrogen from biogas will be implemented in the coming years. Soon, the third generation agricultural biogas plant will have its official opening in Przybroda. – We hope that over the next few years Wielkopolska will become a leader in the production of biogas and biomethane. The interest of the local government authorities in this area and the planned investments confirm that the biogas heart will beat right here in Wielkopolska. We have excellent domestic and foreign technologies, science centers and media dedicated to this subject, educated farmers and, above all, the will of local politicians – declares Maciej Kosiński, vice president of the Biomass Media Group board. News at the 4th Biogas Congress Participants of the Biogas Congress from Poland and abroad appreciate, besides a solid dose of knowledge, also the business dimension of the conference. The mini fair organized as part of the event allows guests to get to know the offer of technology suppliers and services for biogas plants. – In one place we will show technological solutions, devices and key components for biogas installations. We have also planned a information point “Financing biogas plant” – a free legal and technological service for biogas producers, who during the conference will be able to consult their doubts with experts – says Maciej Kosiński. The second day of the Congress is a visit in the 3rd generation agricultural biogas plant in Przybroda. The technology used there allows for increased biogas production, which results in better installation efficiency and expected return on investment. During the visit, we will say a lot about a “peak biogas plant” because the installation in Przybroda is ready for such a solution, as the first biogas plant in Poland. – Biogas Congress is a meeting of investors, renewable energy market analysts in Poland, businessman and managers. It is also a unique opportunity to talk about current problems, opportunities and challenges of the biogas sector, expert discussions, exchange of knowledge and experiences. Everyone who wants to develop the renewable energy industry in Poland will meet in Poznań at 4th Biogas Congress – says Maciej Kosiński.
